I've long been fascinated by the history and atmosphere of New England's historic landmarks. In this painting, I wanted to imagine what arriving at The Wayside Inn might have felt like in an earlier era, particularly after traveling through a winter storm. The contrast between the darkness of the landscape and the welcoming warmth of the inn became central to the story I hoped to tell.
