In this painting, I wanted to capture the quiet beauty of a New England winter morning as the first light of dawn begins to emerge following a snowstorm. Concord's beloved historic Wright's Tavern and its surrounding buildings rest beneath a fresh blanket of snow, while the last traces of the storm linger in the cold blue atmosphere.

Built in 1747, Wright's Tavern stands in the heart of Concord, Massachusetts, as a witness to some of the most consequential events in the town's history and the founding of the United States. Having endured for nearly three centuries, this remarkable building remains an important link to America's colonial past. Through the efforts of the Wright Tavern Legacy Trust, the historic structure is being preserved and restored, allowing future generations to experience and appreciate its extraordinary heritage.

The warm glow of the streetlights contrasts with the delicate pinks, violets, and golden hues beginning to appear in the eastern sky. The historic architecture, softened by the snow, seems suspended in a moment of peaceful stillness, before the town awakens to another winter day.

I have always been fascinated by the subtle transitions of light and atmosphere, particularly those fleeting moments when the familiar landscape takes on an almost dreamlike quality. Here, I sought to convey not simply the appearance of a winter morning, but the silence, solitude, and gentle anticipation of a new day following the storm.
