Riverboat on the Seine — Paris, France
In this painting, I wanted to capture the quiet character of an old working riverboat moored along the Seine in Paris, where the practical traditions of river life exist alongside the city's historic architecture.
What particularly attracted me to the scene was the vessel's weathered appearance and distinctive combination of colors. The turquoise and faded red of its hull, the small wooden cabin, and the overturned boat resting along its side suggest a history of years spent working on the river. The ropes, mooring posts, and stone quay add to the sense of everyday life along the waterfront.
I have always been fascinated by the many different faces of Paris. Beyond its celebrated monuments, grand boulevards, and historic bridges, there are quieter corners where the ordinary activities of daily life reveal another side of the city's character.
Here, I sought to capture not simply the appearance of an old riverboat, but also the atmosphere of a peaceful moment along the Seine, where the familiar rhythms of river life continue amid the timeless surroundings of Paris.
